Our first sight of Wilpena Pound came at the end of the second longest day of the ride. We camped at Rawnsley Park, in the shadow of Wilpena Pound.
The interior of Wilpena Pound was a short ride from Rawnsley Park. Throughout the area are many reminders of the traditional owners of the area, the Adnyamathanha aboriginals. This sculpture is part of a historic site highlighting early European attempts to settle the area.
The high walls of Wilpena Pound combined with the tall gum trees leaves much of the area in shade even during the brightest part of the day.
